Reservations are currently being accepted for the Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority’s annual fall e-waste and household hazardous waste collection.
The event will take place on Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clearfield Driving Park, 5615 Park St., Clearfield.
Director Jodi Brennan told The Authority members at her recent meeting: “We are all set. The advertisement has started. Prices will be the same as last year. We really hope the (parking lot) will be a great new place for it.
Electronic items accepted at the event include televisions, desktop and laptop computers, printers, copiers, scanners, keyboards, mice, speakers, cell phones, stereos, players CD players, VCRs or DVD players, video game consoles, air conditioners and dehumidifiers. .
Charges are 25 cents per pound for Freon-containing devices, 40 cents per pound for non-video display electronics, and 60 cents per pound for televisions and monitors.
Household hazardous items include gasoline, diesel, kerosene, motor oil, antifreeze, insecticides, pesticides, weed killers, oil-based paint, latex paint, thinners, solvents, degreasers, pool chemicals, oven cleaner, drain cleaner, toilet cleaner, bleach, spray cans, fluorescent lights and batteries.
Charges are 65 cents per pound for paint waste, 75 cents per pound for all-purpose waste including light bulbs and batteries, $1 per pound for household hazardous waste, and $7 each for bottles of propane.
Items that cannot be collected include smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, ammunition, explosive materials, compressed gas cylinders, tires, pharmaceuticals, syringes, medical waste, elemental mercury, appliances containing mercury, PCB-contaminated items and five-gallon containers.
